RefineryX, the name of our studio, strongly maps onto architecture and crafting: raw material made fine, refinement, precision, the discipline of taking something rough to something resolved.
We turn evidence, design intelligence, and construction expertise into better-performing buildings. We investigate before we design, always beginning with an understanding of client requirements, examination of context, users, climate, materials, operational requirements, and construction constraints. The resulting knowledge informs decisions from the first concept through completion.

Onur Özkoç
Founder · Architect, PhD
Onur Özkoç is an architect, educator, and musician with more than twenty years of professional experience. Between 2009 and 2025, he held academic positions at several universities, where he taught architecture and interior design and served in roles including assistant professor, head of department, vice dean, and member of the university senate.
His professional work has received international recognition through projects completed with his previous practices. He has also contributed to architectural culture as a board member of the Turkish Association of Architects in Private Practice, chairperson of the TürkSMD Architectural Center, and a jury member for national and international design competitions. Alongside architecture, he has been active as a recording artist since 2000, his main act now being the band Maegi.
