The Common Room
Office by day, venue by night.
A transformation from a conventional, room-based office into a unified mono-space studio filled with daylight and connected to the garden. Centered around an olive tree, it serves as a collaborative workplace by day and, after hours, as a contemporary common room for gathering, learning, discussion, and social exchange.
The Origin
A conventional engineering office with lots of partitions, with limited access to daylight and a strict usage scheme.
The Design Approach
The design investigates how to foster interaction among team members in a collaborative studio with lots of daylight and fresh air. The renovation concept is shaped around a mono-space studio connecting indoors with outdoors, providing a versatile and interactive space that serves as an office during the day, and as a venue in the off-hours.
